Brauerei Aying (Aying-Germany, 1878)In Bavaria, the world’s most competitive beer market, Ayinger beers and their famous gasthaus hotel enjoy a special status even among the 750 other brewers. Originally brewed at a monastery in northern Italy, "double bock" was quickly introduced by Bavarian brewers to compete with bock. Doppelbock names end with the suffix "-ator." Profoundly dark, rich elixir with a complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers.

Lindemans Farm Brewery
(Vlezenbeek, Belgium 1811) Southwest of Brussels, in the quiet Belgian town of Vlezenbeek, the Lindemans family has been farming and homebrewing as long as anyone can remember. Commercial brewing started in 1811. Lambic, or spontaneously fermented beers, are the beers of this region and are among the world’s rarest: they are the only beers fermented via wild, airborne yeast - no yeast is added by the brewers.

(Tadcaster, Yorkshire, England 1758) The Old Brewery at Tadcaster was founded in 1758 and is Yorkshire’s oldest brewery. Samuel Smith is one of the few remaining independent breweries in England, and further is the last to utilize the classic Yorkshire Square system of fermentation solely in stone squares.

The North American Brewers Association TM (NABA) is a non-profit foundation. The NABA mission is to secure beer's role in our culture and society through the advancement of brewing quality and consumer education.
The North American Brewers Association TM was founded in late 1996. Since that date, NABA has undertaken the organizational development of corporate policies, procedures, memberships, as well as the sanctioning of beer awards, beer festivals, and a beer judging and evaluation course. NABA has over 40 members.
NABA holds an annual, prestigious brewing competition. Judges at the annual NABA sanctioned beer awards include brew masters from major national breweries as well as experts from small, independent breweries. Also judging are beer journalists and certified judges. Evaluation and judging of beers are conducted in sessions which lead to the award of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Since 1997, hundreds of competitors have participated.
Judging is performed in a blind format competition with beers poured in a separate room and provided to the judges in style flights. Judging in teams of four, minimum, the judges rank order the top three beers.
All proceeds from the Competition are directed to charity as per the foundation's charter.
